The Role This newly created position will offer the opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference and be part of a core member of Australia’s fastest growing professional services group. Joining a new sustainability Consulting practice within HPX, this will be an exciting time to join the team. Working closely with the Head of Sustainability Consulting, you will have the ability to contribute and influence the direction of this business and global client base. This role can be completed from any of our HPX offices (Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane), and is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility of both in-office and remote work. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively from home or in our office as needed and be able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Responsibilities of the role include:
- Working independently across our sustainability capabilities framework to deliver specialist consulting advice to our global clients.
- Leveraging better practice sustainability methodologies to effectively execute work deliverables and client outputs.
- Ability to effectively engage and communicate with our global client base.
- Carry out independent research to support pieces of work and assessments, such as:
- ESG materiality, readiness and gap assessments
- Sustainability strategy development and action planning
- Preparing compliant mandatory and voluntary sustainability disclosures/reporting
- Undertake and supervise technical work in any of these areas: carbon accounting, climate risk assessment, modern slavery risk assessments, life-cycle assessments and others.
- Undertaking ESG due diligence, risk identification and management
- Supporting sustainable finance framework development.
- Development of ESG governance systems and operating models.
- Completing independent sustainability disclosure reviews and preparing certification
- Contributing to thought leadership on a variety of sustainability topics
- Working collaboratively within an in-person and virtual team environments
- 3 - 5 years’ experience working in sustainability consulting environments.
- Tertiary qualifications closely related to sustainability, Environment, Human Rights.
- Specialist and generalist experience in any of these or related areas (several preferred): climate change mitigation/ GHG emissions; climate change adaptation/resilience; natural capital, community engagement and investment; modern slavery, ESG risk management, supply chain due diligence; sustainable and ethical procurement/purchasing, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is advantageous.
- Technical knowledge and experience with sustainability disclosure regulations and frameworks (examples: ASRS/AASB, NGER and ACCUs, ISSB/IFRS, EU CSRD, EU SFDR, EU and UK CBAM, EU GBS, UK SDR, China CSDS, Climate Active, GRI, SASB, Accounting for Nature etc.).
- Good skills with dealing in data and generating data insights.
- Strong skills in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Good on-time project execution skills.
- Good communication and team collaboration capabilities.
- Demonstrated genuine interest in sustainability topics.
- With excellent attention to detail and the ability to efficiently manage multiple priorities.
