Purpose : The role of General Manager - PNG & Pacific is to manage staff, clients, and projects in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific, through our Papua New Guinea (PNG) office. Responsibilities cover business unit performance, staff management, client management, stakeholder engagement, fee proposals, preparation of due diligence and engineering reports, design and documentation of engineering projects, including all associated project administration work. Scope : The General Manager is responsible for the management and the overseeing of the delivery of projects within their remit across all disciplines, through Discipline Team Leads. The General Manager must oversee and ensure that the relevant Project Managers are delivering their projects in accordance with client expectations, company and professional standards, and within budgetary and time constraints. Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Embody the organisational values, adhere to the Code of Conduct and the organisation’s policies and procedures.
- Completion of tasks as directed by the Chief Operations Officer which may include but is not limited to :
- Provide leadership to the Geographical Remit to ensure the safe, efficient and effective delivery of projects in a manner consistent with the organisational values and high performing culture.
- Delivery of projects to clients in line with Premise Quality Management System procedures and requirements.
- Comply with all safety requirements for job sites and ensure all required site inductions are current along with any other relevant compliance training.
- Technical input into engineering design, and reporting on a range of projects across the engineering discipline.
- Coordination and management of project resources, both internal and external.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets to ensure on time and in budget delivery.
- Maintain regular contact with project clients and other stakeholders to provide progress updates.
- Be proactive in identifying and addressing potential changes to project scope / costs.
- Oversee and ensure the timely completion of all project activities including invoicing, forecasting and reporting.
- Complete all monthly business unit reporting requirements including updates in Synergy, and reporting of financial or performance risks.
- Collaboration with other General Managers and Technical Leads to ensure sharing of information and growth in capacity and capability across the group.
- Undertake professional development activities to maintain RPEQ (or IEPNG) status.
- Proven experience in the PNG industry, with exposure to a broad range of engineering issues and concepts.
- Knowledge of systems and procedures relating to the role, including practical knowledge, principles and methods of engineering, and relevant codes, standards and engineering legislation for relevant geographic location of the work.
- Ability to use information technology, Microsoft Office Programs and any other applicable software packages relevant to the Structural engineering discipline.
- Effective communicator and negotiator, with an ability to liaise with clients, colleagues, Government Agencies and management.
- Ability to advise on technical problems, providing guidance on material standards and specifications, and review of work of support staff to ensure technical accuracy and adequacy.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective networks with internal stakeholders, contractors and industry colleagues.
- Excellent time management skills, with an ability to multi-task, prioritise work, plan workload, meet deadlines and achieve set objectives.

- Bachelor Degree in Engineering (civil, structural)
- 15+ experience in civil, structural or other related engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in staff management and client management.
- IEPNG Registration Qualifications.
- 10+ years’ experience in a senior management position.
