Salary: $83,706 - $89,659 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Location: Russell - ACT The Role The duties of an APS 5 Security Advisor occupation in Defence include the following (note: not all duties are required to be performed during a 12 month performance cycle):
- Assist the preparation and presentation of security training and awareness sessions to Defence personnel to support the protective security needs of Defence.
- Provide complex protective security advice to stakeholders to enable the achievement of appropriate security controls.
- Acquire and apply knowledge and experience to identify, research and analyse complex protective security issues to enable accountable decision making.
- Understand the security risk context within the Defence environment to provide advice on complex protective security matters.
- Build and sustain productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders to achieve protective security objectives.
- Work collaboratively, operating as an effective team member.
- Recommend alternative courses of action to address issues impacting the work area.
- Collate, research and analyse protective security data to contribute to the development of reports, submissions, briefings and discussion papers.
- Tailor communication style and language according to the audience's level of knowledge, skill and experience.
- Be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility.
- Interpret and provide advice within the Physical Security function based on legislation, policy and procedures.
- Undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessment, investigations and perform procedural and administrative support work to achieve results.
- They may be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance.
- They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.
- They will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
- They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
