WSP in the Middle East invites Expressions of Interest for the position of Principal/Associate Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical) within the Building Services Team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We are seeking talented professionals with a strong technical background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, particularly in mission-critical systems, data centers, and healthcare environments. As part of WSP’s Building Services Business Unit, you will lead the design and delivery of complex systems, providing technical leadership on mission-critical projects and ensuring the smooth integration of electrical and mechanical services into high-performance buildings. You will collaborate with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative and sustainable engineering solutions for data centers , healthcare facilities , and other critical infrastructure.Your new role, what's involved?
- Design and Technical Leadership: Lead the design of Electrical or Mechanical systems (HVAC, power distribution, lighting, fire protection, plumbing, BMS, etc.) for mission-critical, data center, and healthcare projects. Ensure solutions are technically sound, energy-efficient, and meet regulatory standards.
- Project Oversight: Manage and review the design process, including preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations. Ensure compliance with local codes and regulations, maintaining quality, cost control, and adherence to project timelines.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with clients, ensuring that design and execution align with their expectations. Provide technical expertise and consult with clients on complex building services solutions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering disciplines (civil, structural, MEP) to ensure seamless integration of building systems. Foster collaboration among project teams and stakeholders to optimize performance and minimize risk.
- Sustainability and Innovation: Focus on delivering sustainable, energy-efficient designs, driving innovation in green building practices and smart technologies that optimize operational performance in mission-critical environments.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical mentorship to junior engineers and team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning, knowledge-sharing, and high performance.
- Business Development Support: Contribute to business development activities, including identifying new opportunities in mission-critical, data center, and healthcare sectors, assisting in proposal writing, and participating in client presentations.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or additional professional certifications (e.g., LEED, CEM) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 08years of experience in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with a focus on building services, particularly within mission-critical, data center, and healthcare environments
- Strong expertise in designing and delivering mission-critical systems, including HVAC, power distribution, fire protection, lighting, plumbing, and BMS for data centers, healthcare, and other specialized environments.
- Proven ability to apply sustainable design principles and energy-efficient solutions to building services systems.
- In-depth knowledge of local regulations, building codes, and standards in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and other industry-standard design tools.
- Leadership & Communication Skills: Strong leadership abilities with experience in mentoring junior engineers. Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Problem Solving & Innovation: Proactive in identifying and solving complex engineering challenges. Demonstrates innovative thinking to optimize designs for performance, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English (Arabic is a plus).
