Cardiovascular Non Invasive Technologist

Job Summary To provide comprehensive, specialized diagnostic testing, interpretation, reporting and treatments in the field of Cardiovascular science. To achieve the very best quality of patient care for all service users. They will work independently within clearly defined protocols and evidence-based practices as a multi-disciplinary team member. They will support clinical decision making by providing routine, non-routine, and specialized investigations required to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of suspected or known Cardiovascular conditions. They will provide high quality Cardiology service across the following key service areas:

• Emergency Department
• Cardiac ICU
• Cardiac Catheterisation Lab
• Inpatients – Cardiology
• Cardiology Outpatients
• Paediatrics and Neonatal care

Job Responsibilities Provides a highly complex, clinical, diagnostic service to patients of all ages from a range of specialities suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders including those which may be cardiovascular in nature. As directed by the cardiologist, provides diagnostic support to adults and children including but not limited to:

• Performs electrocardiograms (ECG).
• Performs Echocardiograms (ECHO).
• Performs and assists with Cardiac Stress tests and tilt table tests.
• Performs 24/48 hours Holter and Ambulatory BP monitoring test.
• Acts as a scrub assistant during invasive cardiac procedures, monitoring patients, preparing, and assisting with equipment.
• Operates imaging equipment.
• Operates cardiac stimulator and radiofrequency energy generators.
• Operates intra-cardiac ultrasound imaging devices.
• Obtains and analyses blood samples.

Provides support during non-invasive cardiac procedures as directed by the cardiologist. Provides evidence-based and clinically reasoned recommendations alone and in conjunction with an integrated team of physicians, nurses, and other Allied Health Professionals (as applicable) in relation to clinical scope of practice. Additional Responsibilities Responsible for audit and quality of the area of Cardiovascular diagnostic testing delivery. Participates in diagnosis related clinics and takes an active role in patient management as required. Takes an active role within the development of the Cardiology service, participating in In-Service Training, facilitating the training and development of all staff by sharing knowledge and skills where appropriate. Manages own time and caseload with an awareness of limitation of the Cardiology service and a knowledge of specialist facilities and appropriate referral. Adheres to all departmental and facility-wide policies, procedures, risk assessments, and processes in the interests of maintaining a safe and effective work environment and promoting the highest quality patient care experience. Practices clear, concise, and timely documentation of clinical records including (but not limited to) initial assessment, re-evaluation, treatment sessions, discharge planning, referral letters, insurance requests, and reports using a variety of digital applications and IT systems. Takes responsibility for security, care, and day-to-day maintenance of equipment and working environment including carrying out daily calibration of all equipment. Coordinates the reporting of issues and facilitation of repair in collaboration with senior staff. Maintains appropriate infection control practices and training to maintain the safety of patients and colleagues. Job Knowledge & Skills Completion of a National Registry exam by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), Cardiovascular Technology, Cardiac Electrophysiology, or equivalent cardiovascular national, regional, and international credential boards. Current, valid, home country license covering years of experience (Overseas candidates). Current, valid license to practise as a Cardiovascular Technologist in Qatar. Accurate and precise conduction of a variety of Cardiovascular diagnostics test in children and adults. Ability to report and discuss findings with referring physicians to aid in accurate and timely diagnosis/treatment. Equipment Calibration. Ability to explain and calm anxious or nervous patients. Evidence of appropriate continued professional development. Proficiency in the administration of standardized outcome measure testing applicable to area of work. Expertise in the application of evidence-based practice. Understanding of robust documentation practices and the use of an EMR. Previous experience working in a multi-disciplinary care team. Ability to work without supervision in the diagnostic and rehabilitation areas. Job Experience Overseas candidates: (3) years’ experience in invasive cardiovascular laboratory post-graduation. For Qatari Nationals, Qatar Universities graduates, offspring of Qatari women or offspring of residents, they are required to complete a training period of one year under supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner (Refer to DHP Circular No.24/2020).
