Disability Support Worker (Darling Downs) COMPANY Right at Home Darling Downs provides a range of care services to assist people living independently at home while advocating person-centred care, leading by example through exceptional communication service. With more than 80 plus team members currently, we are looking for new team members to help continue to grow our name in the community. JOB DESCRIPTION We have exciting opportunities to join our team as Disability Support Workers, providing support in-home for clients/NDIS participants living with complex mental and other health issues. We are seeking individuals that are enthusiastic, caring, compassionate, respectful and can complete personal care as well as domestic duties. The role will initially be offered on a casual basis. However, the opportunity for Permanent Part-Time may become available based on performance.

Qualifications

  • Have Individual Support (Disability) Certificate III or higher.
  • Have experience working with people with disability who have support needs, particularly with mental health issues.
  • Previous skills and qualifications in medication assistance and/or administration (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of incident reporting, quality documentation, complaints handling, and complex behaviour strategic support.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Own a vehicle with comprehensive insurance and willingness to use it for work purposes.
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Open Drivers Licence.
  • Current Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Card.
  • Assist Client with Medication Certificate HLTHPS 006 Certificate is highly recommended
  • Experienced with Dementia Client, Positive Behavior Support and Epilepsy would be an advantage.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with male and female NDIS participants with a range of mental disabilities.
  • Support and mentor participants to increase their independence.
  • Support participants to engage in community-based activities.
  • Model and encourage appropriate social behaviours as necessary.
