About the Opportunity KBR is very well positioned, amongst a breadth of other existing and upcoming projects, to support the Department of Defence to deliver on the Nuclear Submarine Infrastructure pipeline made clear as part of the Government’s recent announcements. During this exciting growth period, we have an opportunity for Senior Civil Engineers to join our Civil engineering team in Adelaide. The ideal candidate(s) will have experience delivering a wide range of civil infrastructure projects and will be familiar, in particular with civil engineering design for building civil works, defence, and civil infrastructure projects. Working within the Civil Engineering discipline group, you will provide civil engineering services to the Defence, Water, Transport, and Buildings markets, delivering projects including civil infrastructure, roads, rail, buildings civil, water infrastructure, and land developments. As the Senior Civil Engineer, you will have a variety of responsibilities such as completing and leading engineering design, preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, streamlining the production of deliverables, and preparing technical reports and proposals. You will ensure that technical adherence and quality assurance standards are met by managing the design team and providing them with guidance and supervision on all civil engineering deliverables. In this role you will:
- Undertake civil engineering design, calculations, and technical reports/specifications.
- Work within multidisciplinary teams to manage and deliver a wide range of engineering projects to specified and relevant standards.
- Manage engineering design teams to deliver project design outcomes and scope to deliver work within agreed budgets and schedules.
- Plan engineering tasks and execute through concept, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
- Liaise directly with the Project Manager, Design Manager, and Client to provide regular project updates and prepare technically sound and well-written proposals and reports.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the client, both internal and external.
- Collaborate, both within our local office and KBR nationally, and work with interstate colleagues to deliver engineering projects.
- Review designs and documentation prepared by others and verify their compliance with relevant standards and design guidelines and project-specific requirements.
- Provide direction, mentoring, and support to the project team and Civil Discipline Group.
- Assist in preparing bids and tender proposals.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- CPEng preferred.
- Experience working within an engineering consulting environment.
- Experience working in a broad range of infrastructure projects within a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Previous experience in Civil Infrastructure for projects in one or more of the defence, building civil, and transport sectors is essential in the role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and design guidelines to the civil engineering discipline.
- The ability to obtain chartership within a reasonable agreed time frame.
- A practical knowledge and commitment to Health and Safety.
- Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance.
