• Architect and implement high-quality, scalable frontend solutions that improve user experiences and drive the adoption of Canva’s premium offerings. This includes translating complex product requirements into robust architectures, writing high-quality code, collaborating with engineers across teams, and ensuring seamless deployment and operation in production environments.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve code architecture, performance, and scalability. Take ownership of complex technical initiatives, contribute to strategic technical decisions, and champion the adoption of best practices and new technologies.
• Champion platform health and operational excellence: Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and monitoring. Analyze performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure the code remains healthy and scalable. Contribute to incident response and resolution processes.
• Lead technical discussions, providing insights and mentorship to team members to uphold best practices in front-end development.
• Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. Work closely with other engineering and product teams to understand their needs and dependencies.

You're probably a match if

• Extensive experience (7+ years) in modern frontend development, with strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or similar frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable, high-performance web applications.
• Hands-on and able to deliver on complex projects.
• A solid understanding of accessibility, performance optimization, and responsive design principles for cross-platform applications.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and mentor others effectively.
• Experience with A/B testing, analytics tools, and data-driven product development is a plus.
• A passion for experimentation and innovation in user experiences.
• Familiarity with backend integration and cloud technologies like AWS is advantageous.
• A passion for improving engineering best practices and proactively identifying new solutions and improvements in the existing codebase.

About the team The Monetization Group is on a mission to build and optimize Canva's revenue engine, driving adoption of our paid offerings across all user segments globally. This team incubates new revenue streams while ensuring users have an exceptional experience. By leveraging experimentation, personalization, machine learning, and AI, the team collaborates to solve challenging problems that directly impact Canva's success. As a Staff Frontend Engineer in the Monetization Group, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing user experiences that drive customer growth and conversion.
