Wood is recruiting for a Principal Instrument & Electrical Designer to join our team Operations West business, focusing on Instrument & Electrical Design packages within brownfields oil and gas projects. This is an initial 12-month contract which is anticipated to be an ongoing assignment, in support of one of our key energy clients based in Perth, WA with hybrid working would be considered. #LI-Hybrid The Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Instrument & Electrical Designer to join a high performing team and support the success of a key energy client on an operational floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility. The FLNG is designed to extract, liquefy and store natural gas at sea, before it is transferred and shipped to customers. We are seeking to hear from individuals who have design experience within oil & gas projects, who are driven by solving complex technical challenges for our clients. As an experienced Instrument & Electrical Designer, you will act as the focal point for the contract and take ownership of discipline design commitments. What we can offer

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Readily take ownership of discipline design commitments and requirements on a project.
  2. Ensure deliverables are consistently checked, accurate and presentable.
  3. Provide day to day services to the project.

  1. Suitably qualified in Instrument & Electrical Design Engineering from a recognised institution or relevant Certificate/suitably qualified by industry experience
  2. A minimum of 15+ years of proven experience in the Oil & Gas Brownfields Engineering / EPCM sector
  3. An ability to interpret and translate engineering concepts into practical designs
  4. Experienced with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
  5. Work with SmartPlant Instrumentation at an advanced level, with experience in other SmartPlant applications favourable
  6. An ability to both lead and work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as work autonomously
  7. Oversee and manage project deliverables that meet the company and client expectations, as well as coordinate small projects
  8. Act as a multi-discipline focal point and liaise / interface with other departments / clients
  9. Prepare budget and manhour estimates of work scopes, set and work within budgets
  10. Have a solid understanding of document version control and change management, as well as a good understanding of dealing with working copies of engineering documents and drawings
  11. A solutions mindset and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities
