Overview About the role & You: This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced underwriter to enhance their career with the opportunity to develop and manage an effective underwriting team. The focus of this role is to effectively collaborate with brokers and underwriters alike to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and peers. Location: This role can be based in either our Auckland or Christchurch offices. How you'll make an impact
- Mentor, support, motivate and manage a team of underwriters.
- Engage and maintain strong relationships with the Gallagher branches and drive confidence in placing business with Monument.
- Collaborate with brokers and insurers to tailor insurance solutions that meet their specific needs.
- Act as a strong advocate for Monument and point of contact for the broker network.
- Be a problem solver with a “we can” attitude.
- Visit Gallagher branches you support to engage and support brokers.
- Assist the Underwriting Team Leader in developing training plans and improving referral turnaround time.
- Minimum 5 years previous Fire and General underwriting experience as a commercial underwriter or equivalent level.
- Proven ability to underwrite complex underwriting problems within defined guidelines and business objectives.
- Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance positive and constructive relationships with insurers and broking networks alike.
- Ability to coach and motivate a team and build effective relationships with team members.
- Previous experience working with connected systems or intermediated business would be beneficial.
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Financial Services, Insurance or NZQA / ANZIIF recognized qualifications.
- Experience of growing new business opportunities would be advantageous.
