These positions are suitable for general paediatricians wishing to work in both a public and private setting without the burden of needing to run their own practice and would likely appeal to early-career specialists seeking collegiate support on their journey to independent private practice. These unique roles present paediatricians the opportunity to work alongside expert neonatologists in Mater Mothers Hospitals Brisbane, Australia’s largest maternity facility, as well as working on rotation at Mater Mothers facilities in Redland, Springfield, Mackay and Rockhampton. In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of comprehensive family-centred developmental care to babies born at Mater Mothers Hospitals Brisbane. You will be involved in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, teaching sessions, journal club, grand rounds, quality audit and research. When rotating to Mater Mother’s Hospitals Redland, Springfield, Mackay or Rockhampton you will provide specialist consulting in the private practice rooms, undertake rounds of any inpatients, and contribute to on-call for maternity services. Whilst the model does present the Mater Paediatrician with the opportunity to learn how to run a private practice, each private practice is professionally managed. For those interested, these full-time positions will include support to assist Mater Paediatricians to take greater advantage of opportunities at any of our Mater Mothers Hospitals (either in an employed or private practice arrangement). The salary package includes a private practice supplementary benefit, as well as generous compensation for time away from home, and for any private practice on-call. About you To be successful in this role you will have:
- Registration as a Medical Practitioner without conditions, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Specialist registration: Paediatrics and Child Health – General Paediatrics
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent
- Completed Advanced Training in General Paediatrics with the RACP or equivalent
- Experience in providing evidence-based family-centred general paediatric care, including in SCN, birthing, postnatal and outpatient settings
