Eradication Assistant at Department of Conservation, Invercargill
- Be part of meaningful predator eradication initiatives that directly impact Aotearoa New Zealand's biodiversity
- Develop expertise across multiple areas including pest control, threatened species management, and conservation practices
- The salary range for this position is $60,314 to $75,603
- Permanent full-time role | based in Invercargill
- Providing support to the eradication technicians including logistical and planning support, delivery of field work and management and maintenance of equipment
- Ensuring accurate and concise reporting, including contributing to project analysis, schedules, gear inventories and resource requirements
- Fostering collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including whānau, hapū and iwi, suppliers and contractors and fellow DOC staff.
- Practical field work and planning experience in areas such as pest eradication, animal pest control, or threatened species management
- Ability to multi-task to work on a range of priorities
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Great communication both verbal and written skills
- Be comfortable to work with a variety of stakeholders and wider DOC teams.
- Excellent reporting and analysis skills
- Strong health and safety focus
- Ability to work remotely for periods of time including the remote backcountry.
- Strong MS skills and adept to new technology/programmes
- Full New Zealand Drivers Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
