Grade II Inspector - Market Surveillance of Industrial Products (Pressure equipment and products used in explosive atmospheres (ATEX)) * Location - The preferred location is Dublin however, assignment to one of the alternative regional locations may be considered. The Authority reserves the right, at its discretion, to change the primary location to any other place within Ireland. Key accountabilities for the role include, but are not limited to, the following Delivering on Competent Authority functions at national and EU level (ADR). Undertaking inspections and market surveillance relating to the relevant industrial products Market Surveillance - Health and Safety Authority in particular products falling under the Pressure Equipment Directive and products for use in explosive atmospheres (ATEX), and associated actions up to and including enforcement action. Assessment of industrial products and their relevant associated documentation. Supporting development of the Authoritys Programme of Work, or leading on development of relevant policies and/or technical innovation, and legislative areas. Informing future inspection and policy activities by analysing and preparing reports on key activities/issues/topics where more detailed/focused inspections are required e.g. as part of campaigns or to obtain information on new sectors, developing internal/external guidance or checklists. May be required to manage a team of direct reports, creating a positive working environment and supporting their professional and personal development and the continuous improvement of inspection techniques. Develops, maintains and contributes to the development of technical expertise and developing key initiatives for the team, as required. Providing updates to the Senior Inspector on team activities and performance, identifying corrective actions taken to address areas of concern. Working collaboratively to share data/information, expertise, insights and advisory support within the Authority. Maintaining the integrity of the data on IT platforms, ensuring its quality and its timely completion by self and direct reports/or team. Working with key national/EU stakeholders as appropriate under Industrial Product Market Surveillance requirements. Contributing to the development of technical expertise in industrial products. Contributing to the management of the safety, health and welfare of staff as set out in the Authoritys safety statement. Traveling as required to represent the Authority at EU meetings. Undertaking such other duties as may be assigned in accordance with the operational needs of the Authority. Requirements Essential The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate: Primary degree (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, or other appropriate discipline. Minimum of three years relevant work experience. Possession of a full driving licence (Category B). Demonstrate that they possess the required competencies for the role as set out in Appendix 1. Industry experience working with pressure equipment and products used in explosive atmospheres (or a recognised post graduate qualification). Desirable The following requirements are desirable: Experience in project management/staff management. A recognised qualification in Occupational Safety and Health.
