Team Lead The Residence Carton - emeis Ireland - Finglas, County Dublin From €14.50 an hour Team Lead required for our care team in Beneavin Manor Nursing Home, Beneavin Road, Finglas. Rate of Pay, depends on experience. Job Purpose To work alongside and under the direction of the Home Manager and Clinical Team within the Nursing Home Setting. The role includes a shared responsibility with the Clinical Team for the assessment of residents needs, participation in the recruitment process, training and orientation of new staff and the ongoing day-to-day management of the Health Care assistance as a team. Main Duties & Responsibilities Have a knowledge of each resident and their management as is necessary to promote good health and wellbeing. Delegate staff and monitor all HCA activity. Ensure compliance with uniform, work permit and time management policies. Have a knowledge of complex needs of each individual resident and liaise with the Nursing Team regarding same. Educate and Train HCAs on specific resident care needs, activities and conditions required. Identify training needs of the team to be able to provide appropriate care to all residents. Support the team following grief, loss and bereavement of a resident Ensure the team are updated on any changes to care plans or residents health status. Assist the Nursing Team with care panning where appropriate. Involve resident and families in decisions around care and the provision of care. Assist where requested with Advanced Planning Decisions with residents. Carry out care and train carers according to the companys clinical policies. Identify and manage risk with support from the Home Manager. Promote choice and independence of all residents. Support and participate in all social activities for the rudiments and promote wellbeing as an identified role of the HCAs. Demonstrate an understanding of elder Abuse and promote, monitor and audit all practices in the home relating to same Governance & Risk Management Promote incident reporting positively as a mean of improvement for the Nursing Home. Ensure that accidents and incidents and complaints are reported appropriately and in a timely manner. Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained and completed. Participate in the investigation of complaints and/or incidents and accidents as directed by the Home Manager. Demonstrate an understanding of all local and national policies, ensuring they are communicated across the team. Demonstrate a knowledge of the HIQA standards, Regulations and Health Care Act and ensure it is communicated across the team. Ensure a high standard of care and service provided by continual monitoring, auditing and inspection of the systems in place. Provide your Home Manager with a weekly report regarding same. - benefit of the Nursing Home and its residents. Create an environment orientated in trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort. Motivate and Inspire the team Intervene where necessary to help the team resolve issues. Recognise and celebrate team and individual achievements as well as exceptional performance. Contribute to and assist with staff appraisals and supervision. Prepare, manage and be responsible for the HCA roster, including the management of annual leave, absences and swaps. Operational Management: Collate organisational data in agreement with the Home Manager (absence logs, sick leave, attendance, audits) Attend regular meetings as directed by the Home Manager. Maintain quality standards within the nursing Home Maintain Health and Safety within the Nursing Home. Liaise with and communicate regularly with all departments in relation to any need areas of the Nursing Home and/or residents. Ensure that all commodities used within the Nursing Home are sensibly conserved by all staff (for example wipes, continence wear, dressings, electricity etc.). Undertake projects or tasks outside the normal responsibilities when required Communications Foster, maintain and ensure effective communication with and between the Clinical Care Team, the families, the residents and the MDT. Liaise closely with the Nursing Team and the Home Manager regarding care and the efficiency of the HCAs to ensure that relevant individuals are kept up to date with rudiments care and significant issue which may affect call and/or leave cover. Participate in conflict management under guidance and with direction from the Home Manager, where issues may arise between the team, residents and families. Demonstrate active listening skills, manage complaints from HCAs, families and residents where appropriate. Ensure confidentiality as appropriate Ensure all written and epic communications are recorded accurately and comprehensive reports are maintained by reviewing documentation, regular audits and by providing training as necessary. Act as an advocate for residents and HCAs. Leadership Provide guidance and support to all HCAs and residents where appropriate. Influence positive change within the team as necessary to improve standards of care and maintain best practice. Guide inexperienced staff to ensure they are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities, local and national policies. Manage the HCA team and act as a role model. Work co-operatively with the other members of the Clinical Team for the Participate in the personal and professional development of the HCAs with guidance and assistance form the Clinical Team. Promote development by encouraging individuals interests. Encourage staff to communicate their learning needs and identify areas for improvement. Identify own learning needs and address any limitations as necessary. Education & Experience Leaving Certificate level of education.
