To provide specialized services for the diagnosis and management of disease under the scope of care of the related specialty. Responsibilities:
- Maintain the quality of the triage system performed by the Emergency Room Nurse.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on patients within the range of the specialty as per privileges.
- Treatment and review of patients admitted to the ED for acute management, including but not limited to:
- Airway management, including ventilation for adults and pediatric patients.
- Vascular access, central and peripheral.
- Joint relocation.
- Simple and complex wound care.
- Eye and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) care including foreign body removal, and epistaxis control.
- Cardiac life support, trauma care, and pediatric resuscitation-related technical skills.
- Report and arrange death certificates as appropriate.
- Ensure patients/families are given adequate information about management decisions and follow-up plans.
- Assessment and referral of patients under medical care to other appropriate medical facilities.
- Ensure the comprehensive and safe handover of all patients to another Doctor at the end of the shift.
- Complete all required documentation accurately, timely, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards and to comply with Electronic Medical Record requirements.
- Respond to any adverse occurrences e.g., injuries, falls, etc., suffered by patients, visitors, or staff.
- Undertake any other duties that may be required, which could include assisting medical colleagues throughout the hospital.
- Assist in covering for unexpected absences.
- Participation in Registrar on-call Rota and provide cover in exceptional circumstances for colleagues’ absence. Although a timetable will be provided, flexibility is expected in the interest of patient care and to meet the needs of the department as decided by the HOD and CMO.
Skills
- Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), master’s degree in the Specialty.
- All medical education must be from universities approved by the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait.
