Job Title: Information Architect Contract: Initial 6-month contract with possible extensions Location: Brisbane CBD, hybrid working arrangements Please note that only candidates currently residing in Brisbane will be considered for this role. Job Summary Our client, a leading Queensland State Government department, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Information Architect to enhance its Information Management maturity. This role focuses on adopting contemporary information and data management practices to maximise the value of the department's information holdings. As the Information Architect for Enterprise Data Management, you will be responsible for developing information and data architectures, as well as establishing data management standards and best practices. Key Responsibilities Undertake analysis of the information management requirements across systems, platforms and applications to guide the development of information management standards. Ensure that the information required to support the organisation is defined, and devise appropriate processes and data architectures including the design and development of organisational data models that meet immediate and future needs. Development of standards for data modelling, design tools and techniques and ensures compliance. Assist in the development of data management structures and metadata including a data catalogue and business glossary to support consistency of information retrieval, analysis and interpretation throughout the department. Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with team members, other project teams, stakeholders and client groups to ensure policies and standards are adhered to. Capabilities Ability to analyse information management requirements, and design scalable data models and architectures that meet organisational needs. Skilled in developing and enforcing data management standards, ensuring adherence to governance frameworks, data quality principles, and compliance requirements, with a focus on data modelling practices. Proficient in building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, influencing decisions, and ensuring alignment on data management policies, data modelling standards, and strategies. Mandatory Requirements: 5+ years of proven experience in data architecture and data management in large-scale environments, ideally in the public sector. Extensive experience designing and developing data models (logical, physical), with strong knowledge of data modelling techniques (dimensional, ERD) and tools (ER Studio, Sparx EA or similar tools). Familiarity with database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server), XML schema design, and data management practices. Solid understanding of data governance, privacy, security best practices, and compliance frameworks. Experience with metadata management, master data management, and data quality principles. Proven experience with architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and hands-on expertise in designing and implementing data solutions, with a focus on integration, consistency, and efficiency. Must have experience with tools for data cataloguing, business glossaries, and supporting an overall data architecture strategy. Demonstrated ability to consult, negotiate, and influence stakeholders at all levels. Must be proficient in conveying complex technical information clearly and effectively to both internal and external groups, ensuring stakeholder buy-in for data architecture initiatives.
