Position Summary Your primary role will be to assist in the delivery of NJM’s multidisciplinary engineering services through your design skills to design, document and estimate the mechanical services. Scope, design and co-ordinate the mechanical services for projects on which you are the designated mechanical services design engineer and prepare documents as necessary. Oversee mechanical services engineering designs that NJM Design have been engaged to carry out and issue design certificates for the mechanical, hydraulics and fire protection services in your capacity as an RBP. Assist in managing the mechanical services engineers employed by NJM Design. Project manage and co-ordinate all engineering disciplines for projects on which you are the designated project leader. Duties and Responsibilities Your specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Scoping, designing and co-ordinating the mechanical engineering elements of projects for which NJM has been commissioned. This is to include calculations using software such as CAMEL, fan selection and thermal modelling. Assistance and guidance to mechanical engineering staff as appropriate for all design issues. Overseeing mechanical services engineering staff employed by NJM Design and checking mechanical engineering designs prepared by NJM Design. Certifying all such designs prepared by NJM Design as well as certifying hydraulics and fire protection designs in your capacity as an RBP. Project managing projects as allocated to you by management. This shall include briefing design staff, representing NJM at design meetings, undertaking inspections of building works, ensuring that all designs are co-ordinated, checking compliance of NJM project management standards for projects where you are the project leader, signing and issuing design certificates and ensuring authority applications have been issued for all projects. Assist in maintaining and further developing NJM’s quality assurance procedures and practices. Your initial role is described as a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Project Leader responsibilities. It is envisaged that, subject to satisfactory performance, you will be elevated to Associate level. Key Performance Indicators The key performance indicators for your position will be as follows and will be utilized to ascertain your performance appraisal: Complete projects on time as requested by your supervisor. Maintaining cordial relationships with architects, clients, project managers, building surveyors/certifiers, fire brigade personnel and builders/contractors. Providing assistance to other design staff in the office. Establishing design briefs for projects that you are working on. Developing your knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards and building regulations, local industry practices and authority requirements and procedures. Carrying out engineering design functions including calculations, reports and software analysis. Developing and understanding of all building services. Developing NJM’s client base further.
