Purchase Engineer

We are looking for Purchase Engineer to be part of Research and Development team located at Saint-Gobain Research India (SGRI), Chennai, with a mission to enable organization growth through technology oriented procurement process. The department consists of purchasing and supplier management experts responsible for direct and indirect materials and services sourcing for R&D. Key Activities : •Managing independently all procurement activities for R&D Procurement Team. •Driving selected strategic procurement projects in the area of materials science and chemical sciences. •Managing local suppliers for the center through regular steering’s and interaction. •Identifying and driving new cost savings initiatives, support center with your Procurement Savings. •Working closely with business, internal employees, finance team and other stakeholders to reach agreed targets Job Specification : •On Day -to-Day basis incumbent to be able to deal with Purchases Local & imported OPEX & CAPEX material •To be able to work on Vendor development and monitoring, material management for existing and new business requirement •To Identifying and drive potential cost saving opportunities Price negotiation - Cost Analysis and Bench Marking •To ensure issuance of Purchase order to suppliers as per specific requirement with complete details •Liaise with CHAS, Freight Forwarder & transporters by obtaining the most compete freight rates •Identify alternate sources for required material to break the monopolistic situation. •To ensure uninterrupted & timely services from service provider •Ensure key supplier audit is carried out at periodic intervals and assess vendor capabilities, based on observations •Compare & evaluate offers from Suppliers & share the PO on approval. •Negotiate contract terms of agreement & pricing. •Coordinate, formulate and implement standard operating procedures for purchase. Adhere to purchasing policy as per guidelines •Able to Implement new age Digital tools related to Purchase functions •Knowledge of taxation, GST, Payment Terms, TDS, BG and logistics. • MIS reporting , well versed in Ms-Excel and BI • Internal controls actions and comply to sustainable development requirements of the organization • Able to collaborate well with R&D, finance and other operations teams. We expect you have: Either B.Tech/ BE with Min 5- Max 8 years of relevant experience in purchase Or M.Tech/ME with Min 3- Max 6 years of relevant experience in purchase Expertise in using SAP
