Job Description The Organisation: Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities. We support people across a wide range of services within residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training. Purpose of the Post: To work as part of the Equine Therapy team at Stewarts Care involves assisting the Equine Therapy Manager to develop, organise and implement our Therapeutic Equine Programme. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Equine Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of equine care, training and welfare, a patient demeanour, and a commitment to providing fun, safe and beneficial experiences for our riders. Qualifications: Previous experience as an equine instructor, riding coach, or similar role (minimum 1-2 years preferred). Valid riding qualifications (e.g., BHS, ABRS) preferred but not essential. Experience working with horses, preferably in a riding school/therapeutic riding environment. Strong understanding of equine behaviour, training and handling techniques. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. Ability to communicate effectively with riders of all ages and abilities. Strong stable management skills. (This position requires you to be fit to ride and work on the ground with horses daily) Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe environment for riders and horses. Assist with general facility upkeep, including cleaning and minor repairs. Report any faults with machinery or equipment Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of horse health. Assist with scheduling and organizing sessions. Keep good records of session outcomes. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
