The Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten. We are a cross-functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across five countries: Japan, Singapore, India, China and the UK. We develop and maintain the comprehensive advertisement platform that allows both internal stakeholders (Rakuten Ichiba merchants) and external advertisers (huge national and international clients) to freely manage their promotional mix and marketing campaigns. Working with us, you will be able to learn everything about Rakuten Group's wide range of services and huge data asset. As a Project Manager in the Core Platform Section, you will be responsible for web application development, a core component of our digital marketing platform. Your team also has peers in Tokyo and Bangalore. In this distributed environment, the team is driving many projects and operations for our AD/Marketing activities. Your day-to-day tasks will include stakeholder management (located in Japan, India, and Singapore), requirement gathering, business & system KPI (Key Performance Indicator) analysis, project leading, and entire development process/software life-cycle management (including process management of technical software design, implementation, quality assurance, delivery, and post-release production support). You will be expected to showcase your strong communication skills to your stakeholders (like business and development teams including your reporting line) with a sense of ownership of the development project. The ideal candidate will be very tech and business-focused, creating a perfect bridge between the business and tech teams. Responsibilities: Business Process Execution: Work closely with the Product Managers, Business Unit, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and business direction. Understand the product roadmap and maintain continuous collaboration with BU and all other groups to execute the project successfully. Project and Service Execution: Engage in the entire process of an application development project (requirement definition, specification design, development, testing, release). Ensure that the project goal is well-aligned and manage the project team to accomplish it with the required level of quality. Apply project management techniques to successfully deliver projects on scope, time, and budget. Work closely with cross-border tech teams to achieve project outcomes. Ensure smooth communication and comprehension among all stakeholders in both development projects and service maintenance. Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Product Manager, Tech Lead, Architect, and other project members. Collaborate with a separate QA team and DevOps team. Collaborate with cross-cultural, cross-border development teams during project execution. Always Improve, Always Advance: Capture improvement points based on KPIs and create/execute an improvement plan. Mentoring: Guide and support junior/new members as a mentor and be a role model to improve team productivity and achieve organizational goals together. Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of experience in web application development. Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management. Experience in different project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Rapid development, Pair programming). Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships between technical and non-technical people. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members to establish positive working relationships and achieve goals together. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately. Team player and easy-going person. Proactive, self-starter, and self-motivated. Ability to perform under immense pressure. Strong get-things-done mindset with a sense of ownership. Good to have: Strong skills and experience in writing specification documents, external design documents, or internal design documents. Strong skills and experience in developing quality assurance plans and procedures. Experience in a Scrum Master role. Familiarity with AD/Marketing solutions. Work experience with a remote team.
