As we scale, we seek an entrepreneurial leader to establish and lead our research function as a standalone Strategic Business Unit (SBU). Position Overview As Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) - Head of Research , you will architect and lead a global research practice, blending deep analytical rigor with a founder’s mindset. You will build a team of researchers, design innovative methodologies, and deliver insights that shape client strategies while positioning the research function as a future revenue-generating SBU. This role is ideal for a visionary who thrives at the intersection of research, business-building, and leadership. This is a clear revenue building function. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Design and execute the research strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Transition the research function into a profit center/SBU , driving revenue through existing and new client projects, subscriptions, or proprietary data products.
  • Identify emerging global trends (e.g., market shifts, tech disruptions) to position the startup as a thought leader and pitch products and services.
2. Research Excellence
  • Lead primary/secondary research (surveys, interviews, data mining) and advanced analytics (forecasting, predictive modeling, trend analysis).
  • Develop frameworks for translating data into actionable business insights (e.g., market entry strategies, competitive landscapes).
  • Ensure rigor in methodologies, leveraging AI/ML tools and global data sources.
3. Team Building & Mentorship
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a global team of researchers (qualitative/quantitative analysts, data scientists).
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration (e.g., with sales, consulting teams).
4. Business Development
  • Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to identify high-impact research opportunities.
  • Present insights to C-suite audiences, driving client acquisition and retention.
  • Explore monetization avenues (e.g., white papers, trend reports, workshops).
  • Create a weekly/monthly/quarterly funnel for business pipelines and closures and have a 5X revenue growth vision for revenues MoM, QoQ. YoY.
5. Operational Scalability
  • Implement best practices for project management, quality assurance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Optimize tools/processes (e.g., CRM for research ops, automation for data collection).
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Economics, Business, Data Science, or related field. PhD/MBA preferred.
  • 6-10 years in research leadership roles (consulting, corporate strategy, or startups), with a track record of scaling teams.
  • Expertise in global market analysis , forecasting, and trend prediction.
  • Strong business acumen: Experience in P&L management, client pitching, and productizing research outputs.
  • Proficiency in tools like Python/R, Tableau, SQL; familiarity with AI-driven analytics.
  • Total Entrepreneurial DNA: Comfort with ambiguity, risk-taking, and hands-on execution on a daily basis to hustle and get things done.
Preferred Attributes
  • Startup/scale-up experience; prior EIR or SBU leadership roles.
  • Published thought leadership in reputable journals/media.
  • Network in academia, industry, or venture ecosystems.
  • Knows how to build revenues and has done in the past
