Senior Mechanical Engineer - Thermal

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer – Thermal Location: Cowes. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role. Salary: Up to £50,000, dependent on skills and experiences What you’ll be doing:

• Defines the qualification obligations for the assurance hold points during build, test & commissioning, and provides assurance to the Design Authority as to the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation
• Identifies and closes issues emerging from product lifecycle stages and manages the resulting change embodiment activities
• Undertakes peer reviews or checking /verification of tasks as directed
• Developing and validating thermal models to predict product performance under various operating conditions
• Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to optimize the thermal design of radar components and subsystems

Your skills and experiences:

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and or proven experience
• Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
• Experience in designing and testing thermal systems for electronic components, PCB cooling and whole radar systems

The Mechanical Engineering Radar team: As you engage with engineering functions across the business, as our team covers the whole engineering lifecycle using the latest cutting-edge technology, becoming a member of the Mechanical Engineering Radar team will provide you with significant exposure inside the larger BAE Systems organisation. This role will provide engineering management support as part of a team delivering capability upgrades to the Royal Navy over the next 10 years.
