Multiple Federal Government Lawyer Positions Available (Litigation) Ally group seeks senior lawyers with complex litigation experience to join the Dispute Resolution and Litigation team of a large and high-profile Commonwealth department. Engagements will be for an initial 6-month term with the possibility of extension. A Baseline (or higher) security clearance is essential. Join a dynamic, results-driven environment where you will engage in exciting and diverse work within the department's Dispute Resolution and Litigation team, working closely with one of government’s highest profile Chief Counsel to support a large and diverse organisation. The team works on significant, high-profile and litigated matters and claims across a wide variety of subject matter and jurisdictions. Successful candidates will work with an integrated team of APS lawyers, paralegals, contracted lawyers, and administrative staff. Lawyers will gain great exposure to clients, senior managers and other lawyers, which may include panel firms and experienced counsel including Senior Counsel. The role is located anywhere in Australia, including remote work, on a full-time or part-time basis. Proactive lawyers who can manage workloads with minimal supervision will thrive in this environment, where adherence to Court and other deadlines is important. Occasional travel may be required, with all travel expenses covered. Responsibilities: Managing claims against the Commonwealth, including inquests, contractual disputes, commercial claims, personal injury claims, work health and safety matters (including prosecutions), judicial review challenges, debt recovery actions, and compensation claims. Responding to court orders such as subpoenas and summonses, legislative requests, police requests, and search warrants. Managing common law compensation claims relating to alleged historic abuse. Managing historic contamination-related claims. Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience. Strong background in litigation and dispute resolution.
