Job Description The Biomedical Engineering Assistant Professor plays a crucial role in shaping the future of biomedical engineering education in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This position is designed for experienced biomedical engineers who are passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of biomedical engineering specialists. The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to academic excellence, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for the challenges of the healthcare industry. Responsibilities:

  • Develop course content, curriculum, and presentations.
  • Provide effective instruction which facilitates the learning process by adopting effective teaching methods and conducting continuous evaluations of students based on course topics and assessment tools.
  • Participate in developing program learning outcomes and share the process of learning assessment at the program level.
  • Map course learning outcomes to program learning outcomes and participate in the evaluation process, including choosing and administering measures, evaluating student performance, and suggesting changes to improve student learning.
  • Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with IPU regulations and submit grades and records by established deadlines.
  • Develop program curriculum, standards, and policies, including reviewing and participating in the textbook selection process where appropriate with other faculty and administrators.
  • Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, internship, observation, field experience, and similar settings as appropriate for the course or program.
  • Provide communication channels with the students via email, phone, or personal meetings. The method of contact and hours of availability should be clearly communicated to supervisors and to students through the course syllabus each semester.
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings where appropriate or as required by the supervisor.
  • Meet all classes and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meetings at the designated times. However, inform the supervisor if unable to meet a class on time.
  • Remain current in academic or program discipline, including maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements where appropriate.
  • Engage in self-enhancement in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.
  • Assist the program/department and/or college in developing professional development activities.
  • Advise students to identify and achieve their educational goals.
  • Participate in orientation programs for new faculty.
  • Prepare course files at the end of each semester with high quality.
  • Commit to quality standards and participate in accreditation activities.
  • Perform other academically-related duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Preferred Candidate:
  1. PhD or Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering or related field.
  2. Previous teaching experience in higher education.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  5. Commitment to student success and academic integrity.
  6. Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms.
  7. Research experience in Biomedical Engineering.
