Specific Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement the Development strategic plan. Anticipate resourcing requirements and ensure that the correct skill sets and resources are available to meet the strategic plan.
Be accountable for revenue and profit of the Development division. Working in conjunction with the line manager, develop revenue targets and deliver to these targets.
Identify new business opportunities and develop leads into secured contracts that meet the strategic aims.
Develop and deliver professional briefings and oral presentations to clients, potential clients and industry partners.
Maintain and monitor competition and market trends in Development.
Manage Training and Development staff. Define roles, responsibilities and objectives for all consultants. Carry out annual performance reviews for Development staff. Establish individual development plans for all consultants to ensure maximum utilization of team.
Manage the operating budget for the Development division. Report regularly to the board on revenue, profit and budgetary performance.
Review all Training and Development bids and proposals. Make bid/no bid decisions based on strategic requirements. This to be done in conjunction with other senior group staff and the Managing Director.
Monitor quality of output from Development members, reviewing key documents and deliverables and ensuring Quality Assurance principles are adhered to.
Constantly look for ways to improve the efficient operation of the division and the quality and timely delivery of any outputs.
Publish a monthly Development performance report to the board.
Assist in forecasting business and market needs.
Propose new solutions to business issues and assist the development of new business.
