Job Purpose: The Unit Manager Enterprise Applications role is to supervise the team and ensure that the applications are developed in-house or outsourced through best practices and leading a technical team. Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that applications meet business and security requirements in addition to architectural directives.
  • Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency and develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  • Develop and cultivate customer focused and service-oriented teams with these being embedded in all responsibilities and activities.
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage, develop knowledge base to assist in problem solving and incident resolutions and ensure documentation is up to date for all applications.
  • Introduce proactive measures to minimize any potential issues and manage production risk, this includes BCM measures and risk management techniques.
  • Review and update when required any related process document that exists to ensure up to date documented processes and procedures.
  • Build and continuously grow the relationship with the vendor by keeping measures on vendor performance and application road map.
  • Ensure the collaboration system inventory and up to date in both AADM and CMDB.
  • Manage staff risk and ensure in-depth application support.
  • Assist in department budget and financial management of Platforms department.
  • Manage (hands on when required) the configuration of new applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.
  • Manage upgrades from vendors and keep up to date with product road map.
  • Manage incidents and defects to closure with customer satisfaction in mind, and in accordance with SLAs including development of knowledge base, troubleshooting guides, and known issues register. This also includes communication of high-risk issues (as per incident and defects metrics) to ISO, IT risk and executive management in IT and business.
  • Proper application of SDLC for in-house developed applications and Maintain Development standards for in-house maintained applications.
  • Negotiate, monitor SLAs for maintenance and support contracts with software and service providers.
  • Maintain up to date information in the inventory of company software and systems assets and their corresponding contracts/agreements.
  • Assist in the development of training and documentation for end users.
  • Ensure the legal use of software on systems by procuring at the best possible cost all necessary software and by maintaining, for audit purposes, an up-to-date software register.
  • Manage support contract.
Educational Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree majoring in Computer Science/IT. Masters degree is a Plus.
  • 10 or more years of relevant professional experience, a portion of which was within a global enterprise software company.
  • Strong understanding of distributed computing paradigms with focus on highly scalable and highly available back-end services.
  • Experience in architecting, designing and implementing large core banking or financial systems.
  • Development experience in Agile environments.
  • Proven ability to work well with others in a fast paced, iterative product definition and development environment.
  • Ability to communicate and express thoughts and ideas in a big group.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills within an organization.
  • Able to work independently with little direct supervision and take initiative; willing to mentor and develop others.
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to react quickly to changing requirements due to product limitations or driven by enterprise needs.
  • Report on a regular basis on availability, and analyze trends of faults and performance, utilization.
  • Ensure teams compliance with change management process.
  • Score and Evaluate RFPs
  • Ensure resolution for all ISO, Audit and Risk related assessments.
