This position is responsible for managing employee relations within the hotel, ensuring that workplace policies and practices are equitable, culturally sensitive, and aligned with Fairmont’s commitment to excellence. The Colleagues Relations Supervisor serves as a vital link between employees and management, addressing workplace concerns, facilitating conflict resolution, and enhancing overall employee satisfaction. Hotel Overview: Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, is located only a few steps away from the Masjid Al Haraam and the Holy Ka’aba. This 85-story hotel, one of the world’s tallest, is the focal point of the Abraj Al Bait Complex, part of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project. The Hotel's authentic hospitality is seen throughout 1650 rooms. Job Description- Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee relations and promote a positive workplace culture.
- Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding workplace concerns, grievances, and disputes, particularly in a culturally diverse environment.
- Investigate and resolve employee complaints, ensuring that all issues are handled with sensitivity and in accordance with hotel policies and local labor laws.
- Facilitate open communication between employees and management to address concerns and improve workplace relations.
- Ensure consistent application of Fairmont’s policies and procedures, respecting the cultural and religious practices unique to the location.
- Regularly review and update employee handbooks and guidelines to reflect current laws, cultural practices, and Fairmont’s standards.
- Provide guidance to management on best practices for handling employee relations issues in compliance with local regulations.
- Conduct training sessions on employee relations, cultural sensitivity, and conflict resolution.
- Mediate conflicts between employees or between employees and management, focusing on culturally appropriate and fair solutions.
- Coach and support employees and managers in addressing and resolving conflicts proactively.
- Implement initiatives to reduce workplace conflict and promote a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- Lead initiatives to improve employee engagement, morale, and retention, taking into account the unique cultural context of Makkah.
- Conduct surveys and gather feedback from employees to assess satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze feedback and collaborate with management to implement strategies that enhance the employee experience.
- Organize culturally relevant team-building activities and events to strengthen the sense of community among staff.
- Organize all Hotel employees' events, not limited to yearly outings, birthday events, national and international days, etc.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with local laws and Fairmont’s policies.
- Prepare regular reports for management on employee relations trends, concerns, and recommendations.
- Ensure all documentation and reporting align with legal and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Talent & Culture department to align employee relations strategies with broader HR goals and the hotel’s mission.
- Work with department heads and supervisors to address specific employee relations issues within their teams.
- Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and initiatives that support a positive and culturally sensitive work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Significant experience in employee relations, HR management, or a similar supervisory role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong understanding of labor laws, workplace regulations, and cultural practices relevant to Saudi Arabia.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and cultural awareness.
- Proficient conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality in all employee interactions.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Service oriented with an eye for details.
- Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team.
- Self-motivated and energetic.
- Well-presented and professionally groomed at all times.
