Full job description

  1. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
    1. Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures for the storage, handling, and rotation of food and supplies, in line with HACCP and food safety guidelines.
    2. Regularly review and update SOPs to ensure compliance with evolving food safety regulations and industry best practices.
    3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of stock levels, receipts, and inventory transactions in accordance with company policies.
  2. Back of the House Operation:
    1. Oversee the efficient and organized storage of food items, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO: First In, First Out) to minimize waste and ensure food quality.
    2. Ensure that storage areas (e.g., refrigerators, freezers, dry storage) are well-maintained and comply with HACCP principles and food safety standards, such as temperature control and cleanliness.
    3. Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring there are adequate supplies without overstocking or understocking.
    4. Work closely with kitchen and procurement teams to ensure that necessary items are in stock and available for meal preparation as needed.
    5. Supervise stock deliveries, inspecting deliveries for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
    6. Conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with inventory records and identify discrepancies.
  3. HACCP Compliance and Food Safety:
    1. Ensure full compliance with HACCP principles, conducting regular checks to confirm food safety standards are being met throughout the storage process.
    2. Train and oversee staff involved in stock handling to ensure proper food safety practices are followed, including correct storage temperatures, sanitation procedures, and hygiene standards.
    3. Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly checks on food storage areas to monitor temperature control and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
    4. Assist in the preparation for external audits and inspections, ensuring that all necessary documentation, records, and procedures are in place for HACCP compliance.
  4. Knowledge of HACCP & Food Safety Standards:
    1. In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of HACCP principles, food safety regulations, and best practices for food storage, handling, and inventory management.
    2. Ability to monitor, enforce, and train staff on food safety standards related to temperature control, hygiene practices, and proper handling.
  5. Organizational Skills:
    1. Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, prioritize inventory needs, and maintain a clean, efficient storage area.
    2. Proficient in tracking inventory levels, preparing stock requisitions, and organizing deliveries to avoid disruption in kitchen operations.
  6. Attention to Detail:
    1. Keen attention to detail in ensuring accurate stock levels, adherence to FIFO procedures, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
    2. Capable of performing regular checks to ensure food safety standards and HACCP regulations are consistently met.
  7. Communication and Collaboration:
    1. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate between various departments, suppliers, and staff.
    2. Ability to address issues proactively and work collaboratively with team members to resolve problems efficiently.
  8. Problem Solving:
    1. Ability to troubleshoot inventory-related issues, such as discrepancies, stockouts, or damaged goods, and provide practical solutions to minimize disruption.
    2. Quick decision-making skills to resolve food safety concerns or supply chain issues.
  9. Time Management:
    1. Strong ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment, balancing stock control, deliveries, audits, and food safety checks.
    2. Ability to handle high-pressure situations, particularly when dealing with urgent supply or safety issues.
  10. Technical Competence:
    1. Familiarity with inventory management systems and software for tracking stock levels and order placement.
    2. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and inventory management tools.
    3. Ability to operate and maintain inventory control systems and report discrepancies in real-time.
