The CIO Role We are looking for an exceptional CIO to join our leadership team as a strategic partner to implement a business-aligned IT strategy that supports Hamilton Island’s overall business objectives and progresses Hamilton Island’s Information Technology (IT). Reporting to the CEO and supported by a first-class team, you will oversee a significant operational area of the organisation, covering Operational Management, Capability Building and Development, Leadership and Direction, Project Delivery and governance, Performance, and Change Management. Applicants will be required to work interdependently and pursue shared goals. Ideally based in Sydney and with regular travel to Hamilton Island, your key areas of responsibility will include: Taking responsibility for leading and delivering the transformation for key parts of the organisation, including communicating the needed actions to implement IT’s Strategy Developing and delivering projects and workstreams, considering corrective actions, risk management, interdependencies, and Change Management considerations, some of which are Programs already underway Develop relationships and work with partners to achieve expected outcomes Manage the overall IT budget, ensuring IT investments are optimised Take responsibility for building the necessary IT capabilities and talent across the organisation Proactively managing and reporting on performance within IT, including setting appropriate performance objectives for direct reports Make authoritative recommendations about technical or professional solutions that would significantly improve business performance About You Given the seniority and importance of the role in the organization, we are looking for extensive experience in a fast-moving, customer-facing organization. This includes: 15+ years of current experience in a relevant IT management or leadership role Being a great leader and trusted advisor to senior executives – able to build deep, trusted relationships at all levels, including having an understanding of what it takes to partner and collaborate with senior managers, executives, and domain experts to deliver key initiatives successfully Have the ability to align IT initiatives with business imperatives and anticipate future IT needs Combine a strategic mindset with prosperity for actions in what is a fast-paced operational environment Be a great problem solver who can think quickly and creatively Proven ability in setting up and/or improving Governance and Risk practices such as Service Management, Change Management, Security Management, Audit, and best-practice IT Processes Self-motivation to achieve in a semi-complex environment with competing priorities Hold a bachelor's degree in IT, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred You must have exposure to a wide range of technology areas covering: Multi-Cloud Platforms and Services Digital, Data, and IT Transformation Projects Architecture and Strategy Networks and Security Integration and Automation You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job.
