About the Company Northern Trust Enterprise Middleware Service team is looking for a lead messaging system engineer to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot the bank’s rapidly expanding IBM MQ and Solace messaging infrastructure. About the Role Manage all environments (Development, Testing and Production) of Middleware Messaging platforms like RDQM, Solace IBM MQ and Kafka. Install, configure and provide support for functional and performance testing of additional features of modern messaging system. Work with application developers in POCs to design solutions with novel and advanced product features. Lead technical team members with Middleware messaging deployments based on requirements from application development teams. Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability by monitoring and testing application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes. Design and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. Design of expansion of current cluster and integration of existing cluster with cloud. Architect the roadmap for messaging systems in the bank. Qualifications 5+ years of prior experience of working in Infrastructure teams of IT financial industry. 4 + years of prior experience of working with RDQM ( High Availability and DR ) is must for this role. 3 + Years of prior experience of working with implementation and working with Kafka. 6 to 8 years of implementation and administration of IBM MQ including Pub/Sub. Knowledge of Solace messaging system or Similar Pub-sub broker Technologies is a plus. Experience with IBM MQ Advanced RDQM required. 3+ Years of line management experience of performance ratings, work assignment and escalation management. 5+ years of scripting for deployment and configuration of Messaging software on Linux, Unix and Windows systems. 5+ years troubleshooting unexpected IBM MQ and Solace problems. 3+ years of experience with DevOps and automation required. Ansible automation skills required. Prior Java programming skill is a plus.
