Job Title: Food Technology Teacher/Instructor Location: 3 Dimensions School, Chard, Somerset Salary: £26,000.00 per annum Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm Contract: Permanent, Term Time only UK Applicants only. We are looking for an experienced Technology Teacher to join our fantastic team at 3 Dimensions School. As an Food Technology Teacher/Instructor, you will take a creative approach to teaching students according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the Further Education curriculum in a way that maximises students' achievement and ability to develop. About the role As a Catering and Food Technology Teacher for SEND students at our Hummingbird school site, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive food education curriculum that is both engaging and accessible. You will guide students through the practical and theoretical aspects of food service, food preparation, nutrition, and kitchen safety, ensuring that all students are equipped with the skills to cater to the needs of staff and students daily. Your commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment will enable students to develop valuable life skills, promote healthy eating habits, and understand the significance of teamwork and community service within and beyond the school setting This is a great opportunity for a Food Technology Teacher who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for students with varied and complex needs. We are looking for a SEN Teacher, experienced in teaching Further Education, who shares our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young adults in the UK, to be happy and to make their way in the world. Essential Requirement:- Develop and implement a highly practical and engaging catering/food curriculum tailored to SEND students, with opportunity to complete qualifications that will enable learners to access work in the food industry beyond school
- Plan and teach engaging and practical lessons in catering and food technology
- Educate students on nutrition, food preparation, and kitchen safety
- Involve students in the running of the kitchen, ordering of meals, shopping for groceries, checking stock and understanding food safety
- Manage and operate the school’s catering service, providing meals for staff and students
- Involve the student’s ideas when menu planning
- Work closely with SEND students to develop their cooking skills and confidence in the kitchen
- Encourage a culture of healthy eating and culinary curiosity among students
- Create a safe and inclusive kitchen environment that supports diverse learning needs
- Ensure teaching is accessible and inclusive for all learners
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and encouragement
- Have knowledge and experience of catering and teaching food technology
- Teach and support the delivery of the wider curriculum offer
- Deliver and support relevant secondary and vocational qualifications i.e. Asdan, BTEC
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate food technology with other subjects
- Foster a culture of resilience, happiness, and success in line with our school ethos
- Bachelor’s Degree in Catering, Food Technology or a related field
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Teaching experience with SEND learners
- Proven experience in teaching food technology and/or working in a commercial kitchen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
