The opportunity The Continuous Improvement (CI) Team Lead will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence across our organisation. This role is responsible for leading and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing processes, reducing waste, and improving the overall efficiency of our operations. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the continuous improvement culture within our organisation while ensuring the integration of quality and safety principles are at the forefront of all initiatives. Responsibilities: Drive and oversee continuous improvement projects and initiatives across various operational areas, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, efficiency gains, and cost reductions. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of CI specialists and analysts, promoting a culture of learning, collaboration, and problem-solving. Use Lean, Six Sigma, or other relevant methodologies to map processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements that enhance productivity and reduce operational waste. Work closely with department heads, project managers, and senior leadership to identify improvement opportunities and ensure successful implementation of CI strategies. Experience/Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in continuous improvement, quality management, or safety management fields, preferably within the aviation, defence, or similar highly regulated industries. Education: Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, Management, or a related field. Additional certifications in Lean Six Sigma, TQM, or related disciplines are highly desirable. Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams to deliver CI and quality improvement initiatives. Problem-Solving Expertise: Strong background in process improvement methodologies. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to senior management and train personnel across various departments. Aviation Industry Experience: Familiarity with defence aviation operations, safety management systems (SMS), and maintenance processes. Project Management: Experience with project management tools and techniques, including PMBOK, Agile or similar methodologies. Certifications: Additional certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, Lean Practitioner, or equivalent. Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
