Salary package up to $120 K (includes 15.4% super) The Australian Bureau of Statistics is looking to recruit a few Senior Finance Business Partners in our Finance and Procurement Branch. This is a permanent position located in Canberra with a hybrid model of working from home and the office applies. About the Senior Finance Business Partner role Senior Finance Business Partners understand the alignment of ABS’s budgeted resources to business strategies and provide strategic advice incorporating appropriate technical information from the right experts to provide innovative and complete business solutions. The role supports stakeholders with robust, relevant, timely and insightful financial analysis and advice, communicating in a way that influences decision-making. Responsibilities of this role include: develop, support and manage complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals develop a sound understanding of the underlying cost assumptions, resource impact and financial risks of clients’ business plans, priorities and projects conduct effective meetings with stakeholders to discuss financial performance, understand variances / commitments / new activity in the business area and update forecasts identify, propose, and implement continuous improvement within the team ensure work is supported by appropriate levels of documentation and record keeping complete ad-hoc or division-specific financial management tasks and requirements that fall outside of the standard ABS-wide budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes. Additional responsibilities may include: co-ordinate the development and ongoing maintenance of divisional budgets (including opex, capex, revenue and Average Staffing Level (ASL) components), ensuring that budgets and forecasts are supported by valid and robust assumptions prepare and support the delivery of accurate and timely divisional reporting in accordance with the Section’s month end reporting timetable support the FBP leadership team in developing, maintaining and delivering the team workplan provide high quality analysis and commentary that is suited to the audience and effectively communicates the story behind the numbers facilitate effective and consistent use of corporate internal budget and reporting systems. What we are looking for To be suitable you should have most or all the following skills, qualities and experience: demonstrated skills and experience in financial / management accounting including budgetary preparation/monitoring, forecasting, management reporting demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively within a diverse team environment ability to plan and manage competing priorities and produce high quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment ability to analyse and interpret complex data with a strategic thinking mindset when providing advice to senior management excellent communication, partnering and stakeholder management skills strong continuous improvement mindset – identifying opportunities to develop and/or improve existing processes, generating ideas, and implementing solutions high proficiency in the use of Excel and Technology One (or other FMIS) is essential holding or working towards a CA/CPA qualification is desirable.
