We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join the Council's Resource Consenting Planning team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who is innovative and ready to hit the ground running to support Council to meet our commitments to our community in a positive and collaborative way. About the role Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Senior Planner is responsible for:

• Providing robust planning and consenting advice on large industrial, commercial & residential developments.
• Representing council and RMA interests in pre-application meetings and hearing meetings.
• Providing sound, expert and robust advice on the Resource Management Act and the District Plan.
• Developing partnerships within the organisation to meet customer needs and demonstrate a ‘customer first' culture within the team.
• Supporting and participating in the long term and annual planning processes for Council when required.

What you will bring:

• A tertiary qualification in resource management planning or a similar related qualification.
• 3-5 years' experience in the planning field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable running pre-application meetings, engaging with the public and presenting at hearing committees.
• Up to date knowledge of the Resource Management Act Legislation.
