Location: Calgary, Alberta Position Summary: This role emphasizes the health and safety of employees, product quality, and environmental stewardship. The HSQE Manager will drive compliance with Canadian federal and provincial standards while promoting continuous improvement in safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Essential Responsibilities: Policy Development & Implementation:
- Ensure compliance with ISO, OSHA, and Canadian health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
- Monitor and integrate changes in Canadian regulatory standards (e.g., OHS, environmental).
- Develop and implement training programs, including WHMIS and other Canadian/U.S. standards.
- Conduct audits to maintain ISO, CSA, and COR certifications.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety programs specific to Canada.
- Collaborate with site leadership to enhance HSQE performance metrics.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide timely reporting to stakeholders and provincial regulators.
- Develop and deliver training to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Foster employee engagement in safety, quality, and environmental initiatives.
- Manage waste and pollution prevention programs in compliance with Canadian standards.
- Support hazardous waste management and emissions reporting processes.
- Track and report the Cost of Poor Quality (e.g., scrap, rework, warranty).
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging lean principles and best practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Lean principles, root cause analysis, and actionable problem-solving.
- Advanced knowledge of ISO, CSA, COR, WHMIS, and Alberta OHS legislation.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 3–5 years of HSQE management experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma, ISO, CSA Z1000, and WHMIS 2015 preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Regular exposure to manufacturing environments with PPE requirements.
- Frequent walking, reaching, and lifting may be necessary.
