Job Title : Design Lead/Manager Location: Victoria, BC On-site/ Remote/ Hybrid: Onsite Permanent or Contract: Permanent The Boat Design Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the design team’s efforts for 3D model development and extraction of complete Manufacturing Information (MI) in support of production activities. The position works closely with the President, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain and Production personnel. Key Responsibilities:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, guide, and motivate design teams
- Skilled in team building and cultivating a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
- Effectively coach, providing constructive feedback and promoting continuous improvement in design quality
- Strong boat design and 3D modelling skills geared towards production
- Knowledge of aluminum boat manufacturing
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Rhino
- Knowledge of CNC pathing software Familiar with geometry or master-part based modelling
- Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Windows, Office, and other applications
- Drives the department to meet all goals and objectives
- Works closely with all departments to develop boat designs that our customers want
- Ensures boat designs meet all customer and regulatory requirements
- Provides accurate BOM’s, with MI, to the production departments
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or marine equivalent
- 7+ years of experience in boat design
- 3+ years of experience leading design teams
- Experience using 3D software (SolidWorks & Rhino preferred)
- Experience developing MI for production purposes
- Experience with; Transport Canada TP1332, ISO standards for inflatable boats, Lloyd’s Register Grey Boat Code, ABYC, etc.
