Summary: The Disability Adviser plays a crucial role in providing support and accommodations for students with disabilities in an educational institution in Dubai. They ensure equal access to education and promote inclusivity for students with disabilities. The disability adviser works closely with students, faculty, and staff to assess individual needs, develop support plans, and coordinate accommodations. They provide guidance, advocacy, and resources to enhance the educational experience and success of students with disabilities. Strong knowledge of disability laws, empathy, and a commitment to inclusivity are essential for this role. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess individual needs of students with disabilities and develop personalized support plans.
  2. Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to determine appropriate accommodations.
  3. Provide information and guidance on disability-related laws, rights, and resources.
  4. Advocate for inclusive practices and equal access to education for students with disabilities.
  5. Coordinate and implement accommodations, such as assistive technologies, note-taking services, and exam modifications.
  6. Conduct accessibility audits of campus facilities and recommend improvements.
  7. Support students in transitioning to higher education or vocational training.
  8. Provide training and awareness programs on disability-related topics.
  9. Collaborate with academic departments to ensure curriculum accessibility.
  10. Maintain confidential and accurate records of students' disability-related information.
  11. Stay updated with advancements in disability support services and accessibility technology.
  12. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students with disabilities.
  13. Provide ongoing support and follow-up for students with disabilities throughout their educational journey.
Desired Candidate Profile: Requirements: Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Knowledge of disability laws, accommodations, and assistive technologies. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Ability to assess individual needs and develop appropriate support plans. Knowledge of educational resources and services for students with disabilities. Familiarity with accessibility standards and universal design principles. Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Commitment to promoting inclusivity and equal access to education.
