Job Description

This role involves providing direction to shop floor personnel, monitoring the quality of work, ensuring employees receive proper training, and addressing maintenance issues. The position oversees and assists with daily plant operations, including process and procedure improvement activities. Position Summary:
  1. Provide guidance and direction to production floor personnel.
  2. Achieve staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  3. Develop and maintain training programs in conjunction with the Training Coordinator to ensure that all personnel have the necessary skills to perform their duties safely and productively.
  4. Coordinate daily production floor activities and delegate assignments to production personnel.
  5. Communicate clear expectations to production personnel, keep them informed of matters pertaining to their job, and develop personnel growth opportunities.
  6. Monitor employee work performance relative to expectations and maintain material/workflow through the facility.
  7. Ensure material handlers supply the workstations with materials quickly and efficiently.
  8. Monitor and enforce safety policies.
  9. Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times by educating and directing personnel.
  10. Ensure equipment and tools are in good working order and available for use when required.
  11. Ensure all stations are producing products to the company's quality standards.
  12. Continuously evaluate and modify the plant layout and material workflow for increased throughput and productivity.
  13. Monitor and enforce work start, break, and stop times of the production floor personnel.
  14. Monitor the tidiness of the workstations and machines as well as the shipping and receiving yard.
  15. Hold regular production meetings with the staff.
  16. Address conflicts of interest and provide solutions.
  17. Issue Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as tools as necessary.
  18. Lead the production floor personnel and maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  19. Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  20. Uphold all quality and safety standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
  21. Any other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Degree or Trade/Technical School Certification in Mechanical stream is preferred.
  3. Should have at least 5 years of specific work experience, preferably in the oilfield service industry.
  4. Must have good verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers, and vendors. Being multilingual is preferred.
  5. Must possess adequate PC skills, including proficiency in all MS Office products.
  6. Must possess sound reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions.
  7. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  8. Strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations is required.
  9. Experience with CNC machines, welding, punching, bending, and sawing is highly preferred.
  10. Ability to read blueprints and parts lists and apply the metric system.
  11. Mechanical Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an MBA is preferred.
  12. Level II certifications in LPT, MPI, UT, and RT.
  13. Oilfield experience is an advantage.
  14. Willing to work on a tight schedule.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and/or ramps while carrying tools requiring a reasonable degree of physical stamina and agility and involving moderate to severe physical exertion.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, reason logically, and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work at heights (scaffolding or ladders).
