Job Description

  • Managing parts of construction projects.
  • Setting out sites.
  • Checking technical designs and drawings for accuracy and ensuring that they are followed correctly.
  • Supervising contracted staff.
  • Ensuring project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets, and/or timescales.
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors, local authority employees, architects, and other professionals, especially quantity surveyors and the overall project manager.
  • Providing technical advice and solving problems on site.
  • Preparing site reports and logging progress.
  • Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to.
  • Overseeing daily construction activities on-site, ensuring all work aligns with project specifications and timelines.
  • Performing regular inspections of work progress and quality, identifying issues and implementing corrective measures promptly.
  • Coordinating effectively with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and resources needed for construction.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation of site activities, including daily reports, progress photos, and compliance records.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, conducting safety audits and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project schedules and budgets, actively monitoring expenditures and resource allocation.
  • Liaising with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and resolve any design-related issues.
  • Reviewing technical drawings and plans to ensure accuracy and feasibility before construction begins.
  • Supporting the project manager in identifying potential risks and developing proactive strategies to mitigate them.
  • Engaging in problem-solving on-site, addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during the construction process.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is essential for a solid technical foundation.
  • Professional engineering certification (e.g., PE) is highly preferred, showcasing advanced expertise and commitment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in construction site management within the civil engineering sector.
  • Familiarity with local construction codes and regulations is crucial for ensuring compliance and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project) to streamline project workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess project performance and implement necessary adjustments effectively.
  • Excellent leadership abilities to inspire and manage diverse teams, fostering a collaborative work atmosphere.
