SUMMARY: The General Manager oversees all operations, Great Lakes shipping and sales activities of the Ontario Trap Rock group. The incumbent works very closely with Operations Managers to ensure production efficiencies, and high-quality standards are being met though clear communications between operations, sales, logistics and the end customers. The incumbent will be a strategic thinker who will lead by example, be proactive, hold their team accountable and implement changes that align with Tomlinson Core values. This position requires extensive travel to production operations, dock facilities, customer sites and construction project sites. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overall responsibility for full Profit and Loss within the division; accountable for driving revenue growth, managing costs, and ultimately ensuring the profitability of the business unit. This involves analyzing financial data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies goals and strategic initiatives.
- Overall responsibility for sales team leadership and management to drive revenue growth, meet sales targets, and maintain strong customer relationships. Oversight of the sales group and setting sales targets, providing strategic guidance and support to the sales team to achieve business goals.
- Coordinating with Operations to ensure quality standards are met and maintaining open communications with Quality Control. Regularly reviewing quality reports and specifications; implementation and maintenance of Quality dashboards.
- Overall responsible for efficient marine shipping, and materials movements from the quarry to final destinations in both the US and Canada, including quality control at the dock sites. Ensuring good vendor relations that are tied in to Tomlinson existing sales systems and processes.
- Identifying new business opportunities, partnerships, innovative product uses, and markets to drive business growth. This includes leading market research, developing business strategies, and implementing initiatives to capitalize on opportunities.
- Ensures consistent implementation and management of Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance policies and procedures in the field; ensuring that the business unit complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. This involves staying up to date on regulatory changes, implementing compliance processes and controls, and mitigating any compliance risks that may impact the business.
- Directs, develops, and manages employees, including providing coaching and training, setting goals, and evaluating performance. Develops and leads high-performing managers to exercise strong ethical and business principles, utilizing safe, effective, and efficient operating practices.
- Regular customer visits across OTR’s market area.
- Responsible for maintaining good working relations with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and share with the leadership team.

- More than 10 years’ experience in senior management

- Regular travel is required in both the US and Canada, including frequent visits to Bruce Mines, Ontario (Sault Ste. Marie)
