People Operations Strategist

As a People Operations Strategist , you’ll work with growth-minded companies that care deeply about their people. As an HR consultant, you’ll get to partner with founders, CEOs and senior leaders of small and medium-sized businesses, with limited in-house HR expertise, to help them take their companies to the next level! You’ll get to work on challenging projects that require a high level of strategy, and support the day-to-day and the basics, like creating policies and employee handbooks. You’ll have a significant influence on building people and culture best practices for a variety of organizations, predominantly in the Tech, Agency, Not-For-Profit, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Professional Services industries. This role is part-time, as an independent contractor, with the opportunity to move in-house later in the year. About you: Our ideal candidate is a seasoned HR Generalist with in-depth experience in HR operations, employee engagement, change management, performance management, employee relations, and labour law. You love to build out people and culture programs and deliver exceptional results. You’re an expert in HR best practices, compliance, employee relations, and HR technology implementation. A typical week in the life:
- Integrate into our client’s teams to understand their people & culture operational needs at a deep level.
- Deliver strategic and operational consulting advice and services to current clients.
- Build and manage strong relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong knowledge base of industry trends and new developments.
- Provide support as needed to the People Operations team members and occasionally Talent Acquisition team members on topics relating to clients’ project needs.
- Respond to ad hoc HR questions from startups and small businesses, with a focus on ESA, compliance, and employee relations
- 8+ years of proven experience as an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner or HR Consultant in a fast-paced environment.
- The drive and initiative to be a champion for our clients and lead people & culture projects to success by ensuring a value-based partnership.
- Solid communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective time-management abilities - you are hyper-organized and have a high sense of urgency.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; a strong team player.
- Passion for researching HR trends and best practices and a life-long learning mindset.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple ongoing projects with ease.
- Ability to travel to client sites in Vancouver or Toronto on an occasional basis (i.e. 3-4 times per year).
- Previous consulting or freelance experience.
- Strong expertise in delivering training workshops by applying group facilitation and adult learning techniques.
- A specialized degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or Business.
