We at GEMS International School, Al Khail are looking for an experienced Technology and Innovation Coach to join our Primary team for the Academic Year commencing August 2025. The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher who is excited to join our world-class school and is driven to provide education at an exceptional level. Job Purpose: Provide leadership in the school by working with teachers and students to effectively integrate the use of technology into instruction that meets international and IB standards. Job Description includes but is not limited to:
Coaching
- Inspire educators to use technology to enhance high-quality learning.
- Co-teach and collaborate with teachers Pk-Grade 5.
- Plan and design PYP lessons and units that invite innovation.
- Meet with parents to educate and inspire.
- Lead professional development for educators and leaders in using technology to advance teaching and learning.
- Review and use data to support the use of technology to improve learning and access to learning.
- Model and coach digital citizenship and the associated responsibilities.
Instruction
- Remain abreast of new technologies for teaching and learning.
- Consult on IT integration into units of inquiry and single subjects.
- Select and use appropriate technology to support ATL skills.
- Introduce and implement appropriate instructional strategies for integrating technology into instruction.
- Assess students' learning/instructional needs to identify the appropriate technology for instruction.
- Manage technology in the classroom to maximize student access and learning.
- Use technology to promote student-centered learning environments including hands-on activities.
- Use technology to increase student engagement through collaboration and communication.
- Use technology to solve problems and increase critical/creative thinking.
- Use technology to differentiate instruction by content, process, and product.
- Apply and model legal and ethical use of technology.
Technology Integration
- Support teachers as they integrate technology into instruction and utilize technology resources in the classroom.
- Understand and model teaching that incorporates 21st Century Learning Skills and student-centered learning through student engagement.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to plan and deliver technology-integrated lessons that support technology across the curriculum.
- Model creative and innovative uses of technology in classroom instruction.
- Work with teachers to model, coach, and teach technology skills.
- Provide models for teachers in differentiating instruction through the use of technology to meet individual learning needs and to support a variety of learning styles and modalities.
- Evaluate and reflect upon professional practices, emerging technologies, and current research to support student learning.
- Establish and/or maintain agreements and procedures for the use of technology.
- Maintain and update software and hardware inventories.
- A certified professional teaching qualification at degree level, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent in specialism (ideally IT).
- A minimum of 3 years of solid and demonstrable experience within a similar role, ideally within an IB Curriculum School; however, this is not mandatory.
- The experience, personality, and educational philosophy to drive further, the education agenda at this flagship GEMS school with an international student body.
