Job Summary The Infrastructure Operations Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, and support of NetApp as well as other storage and backup systems within the organization. This role involves collaborating with various IT teams to ensure efficient data storage, backup, and retrieval processes while adhering to best practices and industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of NetApp and other storage technologies, data management, and strong troubleshooting skills. Role Responsibilities:
- Maintain NetApp and other storage infrastructure to meet the organization's data storage and accessibility requirements.
- Configure, monitor, and manage storage systems to ensure optimal performance, capacity utilization, and data protection.
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve storage infrastructure issues.
- Monitor storage infrastructure for performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and proactively optimize storage performance.
- Maintain data backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as firmware upgrades, patch management, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve storage and backup related issues, coordinating with vendor support if necessary.
- Ensure data security and compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
- Maintain documentation of storage and backup configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Contribute to and lead Service Improvement initiatives.
- Be available for On-Call support as per the On-Call roster including on weekends to implement planned changes or resolve production outages.
- Expected to work beyond business hours if required to resolve production outages (P1, P2, Data loss etc.)
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in storage technology and recommend improvements to the existing infrastructure.
- At least 6 years of experience in supporting NetApp storage infrastructure of at least 100 TB storage.
- At least 3 years of experience in supporting backup technologies.
- At least 3 years hands-on experience in supporting C mode and 7 mode NetApp storage.
- Strong understanding of NetApp storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and unified storage architectures.
- Experience with managing SAN switch (Brocade).
- Experience with NetApp ONTAP upgrades, FAS, AFF, and other relevant NetApp products.
- Familiarity with data deduplication, compression, and thin provisioning concepts.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing protocols such as NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, and FCP.
- Excellent knowledge of RAID configurations and storage virtualization.
- Functional knowledge of vmware, particularly in relation to data management.
- Ability to script and automate storage-related tasks using languages like PowerShell or Python is a plus.
- Knowledge of backup technologies: Rubrik and Commvault is an asset.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and DFSR is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent).
- Relevant industry certifications such as NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) or NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE) are added plus. Storage platforms (mainly NetApp) including block, fibre channel, NAS, CIFS and iSCSI.
