WSP Middle East are seeking for Junior to Senior Consultant - Lighting Design to join us in UAE. Your new role, what's involved? Lighting Design Experience
- Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the lighting design process, with a proven track record of successfully completing lighting design projects across all stages and deliverables. Typically oversees consultants and support teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Able to effectively communicate design ideas both verbally and visually, delivering unique and high-quality lighting design concepts tailored to specific client briefs while adapting to changes and proposing innovative, out-of-the-box solutions.
- Approaches lighting design with a holistic, whole-building perspective, rather than a systems-based approach.
- Skilled in developing high-quality hand sketches and proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Dialux or Relux, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, with a solid understanding of Revit and BIM.
- Experienced in providing markups and contributing to the production of deliverables, from concept to tender stages, including concept presentations, luminaire specifications, control schedules, calculations, BOQ, layouts, and detailed drawings.
- Capable of creating visually appealing lighting design documents such as reports and presentations that effectively communicate technical information in clear and accessible language.
- Able to create specifications in line with relevant technical project requirements. Experienced in conducting site inspections, including defect inspections and ensuring compliance with design intent.
- Proficient in supervising commissioning processes, directing and aiming adjustable fittings, and setting appropriate lighting levels to meet design specifications.
- Works independently while maintaining effective liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborates with architects, landscape architects, and interior designers, including internal team members and other disciplines, throughout the project stages.
- Supports and liaises with other specialist teams, including technical and commercial disciplines, when necessary.
- Supervises contractor’s lighting design implementation with hands-on involvement, applying deep technical knowledge and expertise.
- Coordinates technical workshops with suppliers to stay aligned with new and innovative product trends.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the team’s skills and knows when to leverage the experience of others.
- Conducts on-site reviews to support technical inspections.
- Contributes to the growth of the lighting design team within the organization.
- Brings technical expertise in relevant lighting industry code standards.
- Ensures that health and safety practices are integrated into all work, adhering to company policies.
- Participates in conferences and exhibitions to stay updated on the latest market trends, sharing findings with the team.
- Attends technical workshops and learning sessions with manufacturers and fabricators, gaining a detailed understanding of installation processes and sharing knowledge with the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design or a similar field, with full professional qualifications and at least 2 years of relevant experience in lighting design consultancy.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capable of working independently and remotely from the core team.
