ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a proactive Cyber Security Officer for an initial 12-month contract based in Darwin. In this role, you will provide cybersecurity support, address incidents, contribute to policy development, deliver training, and assist with risk management and audits. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with a degree in Cybersecurity or equivalent. Experience within utility organisations or the Northern Territory Government is highly desirable. Key Duties & Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities: Level 1 Support: Provide first response to cyber security issues or requests raised. The first response will pertain to issues raised by users on notifications of suspicious emails, incidents, security concerns, data breaches, and notification of suspicious activities by users. Contribute to the development and maintenance of cyber security policies, procedures, and standards. Help develop and deliver cyber security awareness and training programs and materials to build capability. Participate in assessing and managing cyber security risks associated with third-party vendors. Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of cyber security risks across all organisational functions, collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed. Assist in the coordination of cyber security audits, assessments, and remediation activities, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and objectives. SELECTION CRITERIA QUESTIONS Essential: Demonstrated customer service focus, including excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures. Proven ability to perform well under pressure, manage conflicting priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver to agreed service levels. Ability to utilise a lateral approach to problem solving, demonstrating a logical thought process to achieve problem resolution. Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and management with ICT including safeguarding systems, networks, and data with the ability to deliver efficient and effective support to incidents and recommend solutions to ICT issues to a diverse range of non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability with providing level 1 and 2 support in a customer-centric environment and other activities. Proven experience in the support of, and the ability to rapidly learn new technologies. Minimum of two years’ experience in the provision of remote assistance and on-site support to end users. Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity or equivalent. Desirable: Experience in ICT support within a utility organisation. Knowledge of and experience in supporting ICT infrastructure in the Northern Territory Government environment.
