Position Purpose: The Team Lead for Academic Affairs at SBASSE is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the academic progression of students and managing key academic processes. Main Responsibilities: The Team Lead-Academic Affairs will be collaborating with students, faculty, and the six departments to uphold academic standards and enhance student experience of SBASSE undergraduates. I. Leadership:
- Thought Leadership: Drive improvements and innovations in academic affairs. These include but are not limited to effective enrolment practices, synchronization of Academic Affairs with the SSE 101 freshmen advising course and the First Years Student Support initiative, ensuring seamless support to advising efforts.
- Contributing to strategic planning and development in the Office of Academic Affairs and Advising, to ensure timely and effective student support.
- Develop strategies to support probationary, undeclared, and re-admitted students.
- Develop and implement policies to streamline academic processes and enhance team efficiency.
- Be the lead liaison within the Academic Affairs and Advising Office with the Departments of Biology, Chemistry & Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
- Enrolment & Course Planning: Supervise enrollment management, pre-registration, and course planning to align with university policies.
- Enrolment Related Interventions: Manage complex enrollment changes, such as force enrollments and add/drop requests, ensuring accuracy and fairness.
- Lead Academic Affairs: Provide assistance to students on academic issues, including university policies, course selection, degree requirements, and academic standing.
- Direct Advising: Conduct individual advising meetings with students regarding academic and curricular challenges, providing guidance on course selections and program requirements.
- Lead Academic Processes: Verify degree requirements for juniors and oversee processes for major declarations and transfers in line with school/university approved policies.
- Liaison with Advising Team: Coordinate with the Advisement team on the well-being of students with disabilities or declining GPAs. Tracking progress and outcomes to ensure student success.
- Lead the planning and execution of key academic events, including Major Day, Orientation Week, Convocation, and DHL events.
- Ensure all logistical aspects, such as scheduling, venue coordination, and participant engagement, are handled effectively.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of all student interactions and ensure compliance with LUMS regulations regarding confidentiality.
- Engagement with Parents: Engage with parents as appropriate, ensuring clear communication while respecting student privacy.
- Address and resolve academic queries, collaborating with departments such as OSA and RO to ensure seamless operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams, coordinate complex processes, and enhance student success initiatives.
- Ability to prospect, provide a value proposition to prospective employers.
- High organization skills and efficiency.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Administration, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in a similar capacity.
