  • The Commercial Manager will be responsible for all commercial aspects of a large program, including advising clients on commercial and cost issues, administration of the supplier’s contracts, agreeing processes and procedures with key suppliers, and the management of the commercial team.
Job Responsibilities: Commercial
  • Communicates with suppliers and agrees outstanding issues.
  • Works closely with Account Managers to enhance processes and procedures to the benefit of the organization and the customer.
  • Fully understands client contracts.
  • Directs on-site management and ensures compliance with contract conditions and relevant standards.
  • Gathers, analyses, and understands large volumes of data and prepares detailed recommendations for management.
  • Able to actively manage the elimination of risk.
  • Managing the project-specific claims and dispute avoidance protocol.
  • Providing support in addressing and managing claims across the program, including assistance to the project commercial teams in preparation of correspondence, reports, recommendations, etc., and final check and review before final issue.
  • Represents the company to external entities and establishes commercial relationships.
  • Prepares and analyses budgets and forecasts as required for all aspects of costs within the business.
  • Develops and implements commercial audit processes.
  • Provision of financial analysis to contract team and client.
  • Develops and maintains benchmarking data.
  • Successfully manages and motivates the team.
Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports
  • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards.
Safety, Quality & Environment
  • Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of department’s systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Job Requirements and Experience: Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor in a related field, i.e. Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the commercial administration environment.
  • Experience in a leadership position overseeing commercial personnel managing large programs from inception to completion.
Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills along with a strong drive and enthusiasm to quickly assimilate into a new environment and to make an important contribution to the commercial success of the program.
  • Resolution of disagreements through negotiation.
  • Commercial letter writing.
  • Progress report writing.
  • Commercial risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Change management.
  • The CCM must be able to demonstrate a high level of competency in FIDIC administration.
