Concept are currently seeking an experienced service engineer who is dual skilled on electrical and gas appliances and located around North Birmingham. In this key role, you’ll ensure electrical domestic appliances are repaired and serviced in line with our high standards and health and safety regulations. As a representative of the company, you’ll be responsible for offering a comprehensive and efficient service to our customers. Bags of initiative and a flexible, proactive approach are essential for this role. You must have experience diagnosing and repairing domestic appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, cooking and laundry products. You will be working in customers’ homes within the Midlands area fault-finding and repairing a wide range of domestic appliances, completing approximately 7-10 calls per day depending on area size. Products will include dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers, microwaves, hobs, cooker hoods, fridges, and freezers. Required Attributes:

  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge and qualifications.
  • Ability to use technology effectively.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience working as a Field Service Technician.
  • Good diagnostics skills with evidence of fault finding and repair of domestic appliances.
  • Ideally 2nd line refrigeration (R600) would also act as an advantage to your application, but training can be provided.
  • Experience working across a variety of branded products e.g. Bosch, Beko, Hotpoint, Whirlpool, Glen Dimplex, Miele, Electrolux etc.
  • A full clean driving licence.
  • Ideally have electrical qualifications (City & Guilds 224 Consumer Electrical and Electronic Servicing, City & Guilds 2365 Electrical Installation, 17th Edition etc.) Not essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all paperwork is up to date and correct.
  • Inspect job sheets closely to identify key parts that may be needed to complete calls.
  • Collect parts that are to be fitted for the day’s calls.
  • Ensure that van stock is always up to date.
  • Ensure that the vehicle supplied is clean and presentable to enforce the company’s image and carry out routine maintenance checks.
  • Plan your route in the most efficient way taking notes of times printed on job sheets.
  • Be polite and courteous to all customers.
  • Ensure that work is of a high standard to encourage repeat business.
  • Clean up any mess caused from the work carried out at the customer’s property.
  • Aim to complete as many calls as possible on the first visit.
  • Wear company uniform provided at all times.
