About The Role We are recruiting for a Regulatory Principal Scientist to represent Kerry at relevant trade associations and government agencies in local region. The successful candidate will provide leadership to Kerry on regulatory requirements internally to drive competitive advantage for Kerry. Key Responsibilities
- Leads and supports the Horizon Scanning process & Issues Management.
- Engage in lobbying activities where applicable.
- Monitors and interprets trade activity, legal database, regulatory subscriptions, and authority reference materials to stay abreast of emerging issues, prepares briefings and other relevant content for outlined deliverables.
- Inform and update Regulatory & Scientific Affairs (RSA) LT on outputs to feed into hard insight process.
- Leads management of relationships with trade associations and government agencies.
- Represents Kerry at local and international relevant industry trade associations.
- Provides strategic and proactive interpretation and communication of changes in regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to write and coordinate submissions for International Regulatory Affairs Authorities.
- Research, maintain and communicate new regulations that could impact our product portfolio e.g., sustainability.
- Links industry trade activities and positions together for anticipatory management.
- Regulatory Alerts for time-sensitive 'hot' issues that impact Kerry.
- Leads and coordinates the Monthly Regulatory Newsletter with emerging issues and regulations, including KNHI contributions based on expertise.
- Works with the RSA LT to support the development of a comprehensive regulatory strategy for project/development success.
- Research ingredient review approval and use status for the application and country requested; manages these strategies and consultant work as needed; leverages their External Engagement activities and landscape and incorporates them into the strategy.
- Support the RSA team of scientists to provide regulatory expertise and advisement on ingredients (are they approved for use in application and intended markets), on claims, and certifications throughout the development team process.
- Provides regulatory information for new development and innovation.
- Provides regulatory interpretation and regulatory advice to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Keeps abreast of the latest developments of relevant industry regulations and regulatory trends across the region and shares with relevant stakeholders.
- Proactively business partners with EUM on specific customer opportunities, strategic customer engagements including customer presentations.
- Training of Regulatory colleagues & other functions as required.
- Globally connected with SMEs across regions.
- Expert knowledge in EU and Middle East Food Legislation, with wider experience in global food legislation a distinct advantage.
- Arabic language would be an advantage.
- Able to work accurately and quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- An eye for detail: accurate, organized, and able to work on your own initiative.
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
- Food and beverage industry experience in regulatory, QA or RDA, with experience of National or International Trade Associations, and good knowledge of EU or MENAT food legislation.
- Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, or related discipline.
