Stantec is looking to hire a HSE Engineer to join our growing site supervision team in Abu Dhabi. The HSE Engineer shall implement the Safety rules of the company and the client, supervise the different areas in order to promote and maintain a safe working environment. Key Accountabilities:

  1. Preparation and review of HSE Plans, risk assessment, HSE procedures, audit plan.
  2. Conducting HSE audits, inspection, incident investigation as per OHSAS 18001 requirements, OSHAD, International and local requirements.
  3. Good knowledge of the local requirements and regulations for OHSAD, AD municipality, Dubai Municipality, JAFZA Code of practices.
  4. Coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  5. Ensure compliance by all parties with Company’s HSE requirements and regulations and all relevant legislation and statutory requirements, including rules and regulations (as amended from time to time).
  6. Manage in a manner that achieves quality installations meeting performance parameters set out in the Statement of requirements within the cost and schedule targets set by the company.
  7. Ensure that all actions, works, and services undertaken by contractors are in accordance with the respective agreement with the company.
  8. Ensure compliance with the company’s objectives, requirements, priorities, policies, procedures, standards, rules, regulations, and guidelines provided by the Company from time to time.
  9. Review and approve the HSE deliverables of the project.
  10. Monitor the construction activities and ensure that these are executed as per the HSE plan and procedures.
  11. Develop & execute a personal HSE intervention plan, including activities that support visible HSE leadership such as safety inspection tours, identifying potential hazards & recommended solutions, audits, personal interaction, and participation in HSE meetings.
  12. Direct and support the identification of HSE hazards, evaluation of risks for all activities, and develop the tools to manage and reduce these risks.
  13. Participate in and/or review the various Formal Safety Assessments.
  14. Review HSE Plan, Procedure, Method Statement, Risk assessment & all Health, Safety & Environment related documentation to ensure compliance with established standards.
  15. Implement improvement & prohibition notices to contractors, set up recommendations & corrective action with closeout date follow-up.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum 12 years of vivid experience in HSE domain in construction related operations with Consultant firms in UAE and ME.
  2. Level 06 Diploma or above in OSH.
  3. ISO 45001 Lead Auditor.
  4. Experience letters from employers are mandatory as evidence of work experience in HSE domain.
  5. The ability to manage a heavy workload, with close attention to detail.
  6. Excellent computer skills.
  7. A customer-focused approach, possessing impressive communication skills.
  8. The ability to work autonomously, reviewing your work on a regular basis while consistently meeting your objectives and capabilities to meet tight deadlines. Candidate must have experience in Testing and Commissioning.
  9. Committed to working with all levels of management on a daily and ongoing basis.
  10. A proactive approach, working effectively in coordinating activities and complex tasks, taking professional responsibility in all matters.
  11. Be of the highest calibre: punctual, attentive and competent in adhering to Stantec policies, procedures, and working practices.
